Extreme sitting
The goal of extreme sitting is to sit down, preferably in some remote, inhospitable wilderness, and then do nothing. For as long as you can. Ideally, Robby says, for the arc of a day. From sunup to sun down. “This is why, in my Rules, I’ve banned cell phones and timepieces,” he says. “You have to disconnect. You have to gauge the time by the rhythm of the day. Watch the sun as it makes its way across the sky. To spend a day where the only thing you need to know is where the sun is. When it goes down, you can get up. The sun tells you everything you need to know.”

Friluftsliv
“Friluftsliv, life in the great outdoors”: Victor de Le Rue and kid… skiing pulka in Norway! Watching the double world champion of freeride snowboarding struggle, skis on his feet, to pull his pulka on the flattest mountain range in Norway is a rare moment in itself. Following the adventures of Le Rue’s family – Marcus, 3 years old and his mother, Paola – is a feel-good experience to savour at the start of the year. Enough to make us want to hit the road, or the slopes, for a day or more. “Because the hardest part is leaving!” concludes this short 18-minute film, directed by Mathieu Rivoire.
Natural Wellbeing
New trends and treatments will emerge to offer novel avenues of wellbeing – like sand bathing. This Japanese tradition is available at New Jersey-based SoJo Spa, which imports sand from Ibusuki in southwest Japan. Sand bathing is considered helpful for a whole range of cosmetic and therapeutic conditions, such as neuralgia, rheumatism and menopause
Finland’s Happiness
Having topped the UN’s World Happiness report for six years, Finland offered tourists a masterclass in finding their ‘inner joy’ in June 2024. Applicants completed an online form and social media challenge in order to win a free five-day trip to Helsinki hosted by inspiring residents (aka Happiness Hackers), including a 70-year-old skateboarder and wild swimming enthusiast, a forest bathing guide, and a DJ. Communal experiences covering four categories – nature and lifestyle, health and balance, food and wellbeing, and civic design – were designed to reveal why Finns have such a positive outlook.
And if we were to winterize…
While some take off for the tropics, with the hot sands, palm and coconut trees, more and more outdoorsies are heading for extremely cold sites. Sardines on towels are not the fashion. This winter, it’s all about extreme seating on the icefield. And if they had understood it all!
It’s off to a big adventure mix, a wise blend between nature, cultivation and relaxation. Just picture yourself hunting for northern lights in Norway, travelling through Lapland on a sleigh or lounging in a spa in Budapest when it’s snowing. (Tick the Wish List of your craziest dreams). This is true travel off the beaten track.
What’s even crazier? Absolute silence that surrounds you ever so warmly in snow-filled landscapes. That’s true mental detox. The days of your work-home commute are over. It’s time to make room for zen-ness in its extreme cold version.
For the most daring of all, this is an opportunity for taking on extreme temperatures. And the icing on the cake is that no more endless queues are in order when you wish to take “the” perfect instagram pic!
So, ready to trade your flip-flops for moon boots? Nature lovers, ice-cold adventure awaits you!
The Coolcation colourful range evokes the soft and intense contrasts found in wintertime. Two neutral shades, coloured white and soft grey, embody the snow and silence of cold winter days, hence creating an appealing, almost felted atmosphere. Red and orange stand out in a snowy landscape. They remind us of the warmth of a house nestled in the snow, a spot full of life right in the midst of the cold. Ochre, ever so rich and deep, adds an earthy touch, reminding us of the prevailing elements of nature lying beneath the snowflakes. Together, these hues capture the beauty and tranquillity of a wintery landscape, with all the heat that is needed.
In this theme, graphic arts are not the priority. We above all favour the fit. This means by paying special attention to the technical aspects of components that are selected for their high-performance and long last. Furthermore, soft, meticulous finishings serve to create an enveloping silhouette, where each detail counts to ensure maximum comfort.
To face the winter, with its severely cold temperatures and snow-capped regions, it is essential to be equipped with a travel companion that is truly reassuring. Thick fake fur, truly dense, offers enveloping heat and maximum protection against the elements. This winter season, we are leaving the traditional sherpa behind, choosing rather ultra-soft and compact velvet fibers, the perfect antidote to cold weather! In its most lightweight version, velvets in a nicky knit, ever so enveloping and exceptionally soft, will become true havens of softness for each and every moment’s rest. Lyocell, like a soft caress, proves to be an excellent alternative to synthetic fibers owing to its silky touch and slight brilliance.
